Dr. Sheryl Gonzalez Ziegler is a writer, blogger, psychologist, entrepreneur, media contributor, board member of Mt. St. Vincent Home for Children, statewide speaker and advocate for children.  She volunteers her time with Girl Scouts of America and Girls on the Run. Born as a first generation Cuban American, Dr. Ziegler draws from her early childhood in New York City to her tween and teenage years being raised in a blended family in upstate New York. These unique life experiences have created incredible perspectives on parenting, mothering and raising all types of children in the modern world.

Dr. Ziegler is a regular local FOX and NBC news contributor as a subject matter expert in childhood and family related issues, is featured on an Ask the Experts live segment on the local NBC morning news and has been featured on live segments on CW’s Day Break/Good Day Colorado live shows as well. She has appeared on The Katie Couric Show discussing how to talk to kids about the legalization of recreational marijuana use and has been featured in the Denver Post and other local magazines. Other national appearances include Crime Watch and What’s Happening Now. Dr. Ziegler is a part of the Governor’s Panel on Marijuana Education and focuses her efforts on educating children ages 11-14 on the effects of marijuana. Last, Dr. Ziegler co-founded, “Start with the Talk” which is a series aimed to educate girls and their mothers aged 4th-6th grades that address the physical, social and emotional changes that happen during puberty. This is done both publicly and privately at schools such as Graland Country Day School, St. Anne’s, Aspen Academy and Carson elementary.

From working at renowned New York institutions such as Berkshire Farms and The Astor Home for Children to Colorado’s Littler Center and Namaqua Center in residential treatment for children, Dr. Sheryl Ziegler has dedicated her entire career to working with children and families. She is the founder and Managing Director of The Child and Family Therapy Center, a private practice in Denver where she and her team have helped thousands of families over the past decade. She gives statewide presentations on a variety of child development related topics, provides expert court testimony on child development issues, conducts testing and assessment and is a top referral partner for many of Denver’s physicians. 

Affectionately known as “Dr. Z” by many of her young clients, Sheryl is a Doctor of Psychology and Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado. She is a member of the Colorado Association for Play Therapy and the American Psychological Association. She is a Registered Play Therapist and soon to be published author of “Mommy Burnout: how solving your burnout can help you and your children.”
